Hello -
It's great to see people are still very much into potted pies even though it is now very much summer! The new recipes seem to be being very well received, all the feedback is very welcome. I can reassure those that are disgruntled as to the whereabouts of the Gammon, Apple and Parsnip recipe - it will be back on in the autumn!
I'm sorry to say the second week of July I will not be at market. I have some very important engagements to attend to which require the use of the van. I am able to provide home deliveries to people living in Pimlico/Queens Park on the first weekend of July (3rd and 4th) and the third weekend (17th and 18th) if necessary, so please get in touch if so. Apologies!

New Summer Recipes
Hello,
I hope everybody has been enjoying the weather! It's been 27/28 degrees in London and absolutely sweltering at the farmers markets - good to see potted pies are still popular at this time of year!
However it's time for a change for the summer as far as recipes are concerned, with the Gammon and Oxford Blue pie taking a back seat until the autumn, although The Beef recipe will be on for a few more weeks, so come and try it before it goes! Good news - the chicken recipe will continue undisturbed throughout the year.
The new recipes are as follows:
1. BRAISED LAMB SHANKS WITH ORANGE AND HARICOT BEANS
Slow cooked shanks with carrot, celery and onion and garlic simmered with fresh orange juice and zest, roast chicken stock, white wine and haricot beans. It has a very citrus-y lightness that works really well...
2. GRIDDLED SUMMER VEGETABLES WITH LEMON, ROAST GARLIC AND GOATS CHEESE
Griddled Aubergine and Courgette with roasted garlic and cherry tomatoes, lemon, olive oil, toasted pine nuts and goats cheese.
See you at the market!

Family Pies
Hello,
We will now be selling 'Family Pies' at our Farmers Markets! These are three times the size of the double portion pies, and designed to feed roughly six people. They cost £17.95, and we will refund £1.50 on return of the tin.
I will take a limited amount to the markets but if you want to order one specifically, then get in touch by phone or email and we'll take things from there. All the current recipes are available for the Family Pies. Home delivery on Saturday and Sunday afternoons is now available after the markets close - I leave at around 3pm at all markets aside from Pimlico, when I leave at 2pm. Delivery charges may apply depending on location and quantity so bear that in mind - you can alway stock up the freezer!

Our first weekend at market
So the weekend is nearly over, and Little Jack Horners has officially completed it's first weekend at market!
Happily (and with a lot of relief) it can be confirmed that both markets, Parliament Hill on the Saturday and Marylebone on the Sunday, went pretty well. We sold almost all the pies we took along, and would have almost certainly sold out if Saturday hadn't been a wash-out. When you start selling at open-air markets, you do learn to appreciate and respect those loyal people who brave their local market when the weather is pretty dismal. It's also clearly apparent and also pretty heart-warming to see how much local markets are valued on such days.
So a special thanks to those hardened characters, and also a big thanks to everyone we met and spoke to over the past two days, and all our friends who turned up to support us.
Next weekend, we'll be visiting Pimlico Market on the Saturday and Queens Park Market on the Sunday, so hopefully we'll see you there.
For those who are still keen, over the next few days we will still have some pies available for sale at the Spencer Arms in Putney while stocks last. The contact details are available on the website.

Little Jack Horner's will soon be open for business!!!!
I'm very happy to announce that Little Jack Horner's Ltd will soon be open for business!
We will be starting off proceedings tentatively, in order to find our feet over the first few weeks. Nevertheless, I'm quietly hopeful that it will be a well received success!
Our first four pie recipes are as follows:
1. Spiced Gammon in Apple Juice, Honey Roast Parsnip
2. Minced Beef and Onion
3. Broccoli, Caramelised Onion and Oxford Blue
4. Roast Chicken, Lemon, Red Onion and Potato
Our pies being seasonal, the recipes will change accordingly. As soon as a new pie is being prepared to hit the markets, It'll be posted here first.
As you know from reading the information on the website, we will be selling our pies at London Farmers Markets. We will be venturing far and wide over the capital to test the popularity of the pies, rotating between four locations in all - Parliament Hill, Marylebone, Pimlico and Queens Park. These are all Saturday and Sunday markets. The dates are as follows, with the website location details beneath:
Sat. March 20th: PARLIAMENT HILL
http://www.lfm.org.uk/parliament_hill.asp
Sun, March 21st: MARYLEBONE
http://www.lfm.org.uk/mary.asp
Sat, March 27th: PIMLICO
http://www.lfm.org.uk/pimlico.asp
Sun, March 28th: QUEENS PARK
http://www.lfm.org.uk/queens.asp
After this, the dates will repeat themselves in a MONTHLY order NOT alternate weekends, so weekends 1 and 3 and 5 of each month will always be Parliament Hill and Marylebone. Weekends 2 and 4 will always be Pimlico and Queens Park. Sometimes there are 4 weekends in a month, Sometimes there are 5. Check the "This Weekends Markets" section to the right of this message if you are unsure... Hope that wasn't too complicated! If there are any changes to the market locations in the distant future, it will be posted here as soon as we know.
Of course we will also be selling our pies at the Spencer Arms as well, the location of our kitchens on the Lower Richmond Road in Putney. Please pop down for a visit, it's a lovely warm pub with great staff. It has Black Sheep on tap too. Find the address on our websites contact page if need be.
We cannot wait to meet our customers, and really hope that you enjoy our food! As we gain experience, a home delivery service will be established, so bear that in mind...
Get in touch if there's anything further you'd like to know!
Best Wishes,
James
